GLIDE HEALTH SERVICES (GHS)
Glide Health Services (GHS) operates a community clinic that provides care and treatment to more than 3,000 homeless, indigent and low income people every year, and has received local and national recognition for its work.
In partnership with Catholic Healthcare West, Saint Francis Memorial Hospital, and UCSF School of Nursing, the ten year old practice provides holistic client-centered care which includes:
- Primary care
- Chronic disease management
- Urgent care
- Case management
- Brief psychotherapy
- Crisis intervention
- Psychiatric evaluation
- Medication management
- Smoking cessation
- Chiropractic
- Acupuncture
- Massage
- HIV testing
- Risk reduction counseling
- Diabetic retinopathy screening
- Health promotion and education
GHS clients are 60% homeless, racially diverse and a population that has great health disparities. In 2005, GHS logged more than 10,000 client visits.
GHS is a member of the San Francisco Community Clinic Consortium, the California Primary Care Association, and the National Association of Community Health Centers. The practice is licensed by the State of California and has become a Federally Qualified Health Center. Our work has received local and national recognition.
GHS specializes in the training of advanced practice nurses, and other health professionals. By involving future health professionals in the clinic’s care Glide aims to increase the quality and quantity of competent and caring providers to improve the health of the poor in the future.
This year GHS will complete renovation of a new clinic facility, located on the 6th floor of the Program Services Building, which will allow for expansion of services and a much improved space to provide care.
