Real Healthcare for More People
Glide’s Renovated Community Medical Clinic
Re-Opens After $2.3 Million Renovation
San Francisco, CA -- Glide Health Services, in partnership with Catholic Healthcare West and Saint Francis Memorial Hospital, celebrates the grand re-opening of its newly renovated community health clinic at 330 Ellis Street on Friday, July 13 from 11:30am-2:00pm. The modernized facility will offer primary and urgent care as well as the full spectrum of mental health services in a specially designed, holistic environment geared towards improving the health of extremely poor individuals.
“We’re striving to create a healthy community that improves spiritual, physical and emotional health in order to break the multi-generational cycle of poverty and low self-esteem,” explains Glide CEO Willa Seldon. “Our newly renovated clinic, made possible by the generous support of Catholic Healthcare West, Saint Francis Memorial Hospital, and the general support of multiple foundation donors, offers the highest quality of holistic healthcare in a caring and compassionate setting.”
With the expanded facility, Glide Health Services will have the capacity to serve 6,500 individuals. The $2.3 million dollar renovation will enable the 4,100 square foot clinic to deliver a higher level of services to more people in need. The renovations include seven medical exam rooms, four mental health therapy rooms, two complementary care rooms, two HIV counseling rooms and a nursing case management office.
“We’re so grateful to our collaborative partners, our dedicated clinicians and staff, and all of the volunteers who are so generous with their time,” said Patricia Dennehy, Director of Glide Health Services. “With their efforts, and our newly modernized facility, we can offer an integrated approach and wrap the client in a net of services under one roof.”
Glide Health Services is a collaboration of the Glide Foundation, Department of Community Health Systems, UCSF School of Nursing and Saint Francis Memorial Hospital. Located in the heart of the Tenderloin, the clinic offers a unique, nurse practitioner-managed facility that provides holistic care to San Francisco residents, particularly those who are marginally housed. Over the past ten years, Glide Health Services has served thousands of clients, giving them the information and tools to build healthier lives. Glide Health Services provides primary and urgent care, mental health services, complementary care, case management, HIV counseling and testing, and will begin integrating substance abuse services this year.
‘‘All of Glide’s programs and services are about providing real help and laying the foundation for sustained change,” said Janice Mirikitani, Founding President of the Glide Foundation. “We’ve been delivering culturally competent programs and services to the community for more than forty years. With our renovated clinic, we now have a modern state of the art facility dedicated to and created around health and healing.”
