Welcome to Glide Memorial Church:
A Sanctuary for all People

Glide Memorial Church in San Francisco is a spiritual community rooted in liberation and built on a radically inclusive faith tradition that welcomes all.

Join us this Easter Weekend at Glide Memorial Church: Egg Hunt, Poetry, and Live Re-Enacment of Cecil William’s Recovery Message

Saturday, April 19th, 10am-12pm: Glide’s Annual Spring Egg Hunt. The Egg Hunt is open to all families of the Tenderloin, as well as the families of church celebrants. Church volunteers will wear bunny ears while kids gleefully hunt for eggs hidden in every nook and cranny of the sanctuary.

Sunday, April 20th, 7am: Sunrise Service Honoring the Last Supper:  In the tranquil early morning, we will reflect on gratitude, community, and the sacred ties that unite us.

Sunday, April 20th, 9am: Midmorning Service Honoring the Crucifixion: we will open space for suffering and heartbreak through communal prayers, stirring music, and personal testimonies, uplifting both lament and hope.

Sunday, April 20th, 11am: Finale Service Honoring Recovery and Resurrection: A high energy sermon, gospel anthems, and a live reenactment of the documentary “It’s Recovery Time,” which captures Rev. Cecil Williams’s vibrant vision of inclusive community.

Sunday, April 20th, 11:30am – 1pm: Easter Meal Service for GLIDE’s clients will take place in our dining hall and coffee house.

Glide Memorial Church (GMC) joyfully invites you to our Easter Celebration festivities this weekend.  We will present a live reenactment of the documentary “It’s Recovery Time,” which chronicles the life and legacy of Rev. Cecil Williams.  Cecil’s daughter Kim Williams will read the same benediction her father read during his last Easter at GMC.  In honor of National Poetry Month, all Sunday services will feature our guest poet Dr. Jennifer Lisa Vest, a teacher and philosopher of indigenous healing. GLIDE’s clients will be invited to dine on a special Easter holiday meal of chicken-fried steaks, mashed potatoes, mushroom gravy, and collard greens.

Glide Ensemble Willie Mays

The Glide Ensemble sang at the Giant’s Celebration of Life for Willie Mays.  Barry Bonds and Spike Lee were chatting when the Glide Ensemble returned to the field and opened the event with two songs. Fire fighters danced and sang along with the Ensemble as they performed. Glide Ensemble Director, Vernon Bush, and Dennis Hersey sang solos. And more than one celebrity was observed filming and photographing the choir. Learn more >>
