WOMEN'S CENTER
The Glide/Wells Fargo Women’s Center brings direct help to women who have slipped through the social safety net and live on the street or in unstable housing situations. The Center focuses on domestic violence and provides an array of services to help women who face homelessness, substance abuse, mental health issues and other challenges transform their lives.
The Center offers emergency services and the following support groups:
Women on the Move
Regular drop-in support groups that encourage women to reduce the harm of risky behaviors by taking incremental steps toward healthier life decisions and alternatives. These groups are designed to create an atmosphere of safety and community for women (*includes a special breakfast after each session from 10:30 - 11am).
- Meditation and Stress Reduction (Tuesday, 9 - 10:30am)
- Harm Reduction and Substance Abuse (Wednesday, 9 - 10:30am)
- Healthy Relationships (Thursday, 9 - 10:30am)
- Hot Topics (Friday, 9 - 10:30am)
Moving Beyond Survival
A 6-week, closed support group for women who have consistently participated in the drop-in support groups and are ready to take a closer look at personal histories to get to the root of risky behavioral patterns. This group meets 3 days a week for 1.5 hours over the course of 6 weeks. Includes a Phase 1, 2 and 3 approach.
Men in Progress
The Women's Center now offers Men in Progress, a support group for men to unlearn violence. This program is appropriate for men with issues relating to anger management, domestic violence or any type of physical, verbal, emotional, financial and/or sexual abuse. The Men in Progress groups meet on Monday from 3pm – 6pm in Glide Room 101-A. All are encouraged to refer any male or identified male to attend this group.
