Green the Tenderloin

50,000bees live in our rooftop beehives

Our ROOFTOP GARDENS teach our community and its youth the full circle of urban farming.

We learn how to plant seeds, harvest produce, cook healthy meals, compost, and even extract honey from our very own rooftop beehives.

Graze the Roof

The Bay Area's first rooftop garden, Graze the Roof, is located on top of 330 Ellis Street and features:

  • hydroponic vegetable growers
  • earthboxes
  • lightweight garden beds made from shipping pallets and milk crates
  • worm composting system
  • beehives
  • educational mural

Graze the Roof is intergrated into the Janice Mirikitani GLIDE Family, Youth and Childcare Center's (FYCC) afterschool curriculum and provides weekly gardening classes and monthly garden cooking classes for our youth and families.
