In 2029, Glide Memorial Church (GMC) will celebrate its 100th anniversary, marking a century of inspiring hope and justice. We’re excited to launch the GMC Building Fund to elevate our sanctuary and reflect the transformative experiences that have taken place within its walls.
GMC has long been a trailblazer for equality, a place of music, celebration, laughter, and tears. A radically inclusive sanctuary for travelers from around the world, and a safe space for people who call San Francisco home. The Building Fund will support vital upgrades, including seismic safety and accessibility, and historic beauty, ensuring that GMC’s life changing programs continue to serve our community for the next 100 years.

Progress Report
$1.5 Million Raised
GLIDE kicked off its bulding modernization plan by thanking Assemblymember Matt Haney for his support of a $1 million allocation in the State budget to fund GLIDE’s modernization project! A few months later, Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi announced $1 million in community project funding for GLIDE’s Facilities Modernization from the Government Funding Package.
- Preservation and installation of the Rose Window
- Refinished the maple flooring
- Painted the sanctuary
- Repaired the exterior and installed new awnings
We Need Your Support
Although the Federal and State funds are only a portion of the funds we need to raise for our $10 million Church Building Fund, we have made major progress on our first significant upgrade to GLIDE’s facilities in more than two decades and to Glide Memorial Church in almost a century.
New awnings, fresh paint and the restoration of our historic rose window have been completed, but we continue to need your help to complete:
- Stained glass restoration
- Exterior and safety repairs
- Elevator replacement
- AV sound and lighting upgrades
- Pew repairs and restoration
- Historic preservation
