You are invited to join us for Glide Memorial Church’s in-person and virtual Sunday Celebrations and join the work of our hands demonstrated in our Church Announcements.
Sunday, February 18th, the Rev. Dr. Clyde Oden, Jr. will be our guest preacher. Dr. Oden has four degrees including a Doctorate of Optometry and a Master of Public Health from the University of California at Berkeley. He has also earned an MBA from Pepperdine University and a Master of Divinity from the Claremont School of Theology.
He arrived at Berkeley intending to become the first Black optometrist in his hometown of San Diego with the expectation of becoming a successful practitioner; he left Berkeley with a determination to be part of the solution addressing health disparities in low-income communities. After working as a successful optometrist, he enrolled in Berkeley’s Public Health school, where he earned his MPH.
Minister Marvin K. White will lift us up with words and poetry of spiritual, creative, and justice while cultivating beloved community. The Change Band will delight us with a new Civil Rights sound, and the Glide Ensemble will be singing songs that inspire us to join our voices and take action.
Join us after the 11 am Celebration to help distribute blankets and hygiene kits to our neighbors, engage in justice advocacy and register to vote.
Join us Sunday at 9 and 11 am Pacific Time at 330 Ellis Street, or on Facebook Live or YouTube.
Every Sunday during Celebration is Writers Church, where we invite people into a creative writing practice by providing writing prompts, free writing journals and pens to all.
See the full list of guests and events for January Celebrations on our announcements page. We look forward to seeing you!
