GOVERNANCE STRUCTURE - FAQS

In alignment with our GLIDE Forward strategic vision, in 2022, GLIDE continues to build on important organizational changes to modernize and strengthen the social services, social justice and advocacy work of the GLIDE Foundation and the spiritual work of Glide Memorial Church.

As part of these changes, GLIDE Foundation (GLIDE) is establishing a new structure that separates the governance and management of the GLIDE Foundation and Glide Memorial Church. GLIDE Foundation has updated its non-profit legal status to a 501(c)(3) public benefit corporation to appropriately reflect the foundation’s growing body of work on direct services, poverty alleviation, systems change and equity. Glide Memorial Church is now a legal subsidiary of GLIDE Foundation and designated as a non-profit religious corporation with its own controlling board of directors.

While continuing to operate with shared values, this distinction between GLIDE Foundation and Glide Memorial Church provides long-needed clarity for our entire community and underscores our alignment with best practices on separation of religious from non-religious activities and reinforces the operational independence of the church.
