Your privacy is important to the GLIDE Foundation (“GLIDE”, “we”, “us”) and we are committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy outlines the types of personally identifiable information (such as your email address, first and last name, phone number, and address) and other information (such as cookies and log files that, when linked to your name or contact information, allows us to personalize your visit) that we gather when you visit www.Glide.org (the “Website”), as well as ways in which we process and disseminate such information. Please read this Privacy Policy as well as the Terms of Use, found at http://glide.org/terms, carefully. Your use of the Website constitutes your acceptance to be bound by this Privacy Policy and the Terms of Use without limitation, qualification, or change. If at any time you do not accept all the terms and conditions contained in this Privacy Policy and in the Terms of Use, you must immediately discontinue use of the Website. We may revise and update the Privacy Policy from time to time in our sole discretion. All changes will be effective immediately when we post them, and will apply to all access to and use of the Website. Your continued use of the Website following the posting of a revised Privacy Policy means that you accept and agree to the changes. You are expected to check this page from time to time so you are aware of any changes, as they are binding on you. At the top of this page, we will indicate the “Effective Date” of the most recent version of the Privacy Policy to enable you to determine whether the Privacy Policy been revised since your previous visit to the Website.
The Website is governed by and operated in accordance with the laws of United States of America. GLIDE makes no representation that the Website is governed by or operated in accordance with the laws of other nations. By using the Website and submitting any personal information, visitors from outside of the United States acknowledge the Website is subject to U.S. law, you hereby consent to the transfer of personal data to the United States for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, and hereby waive any claims that may arise under the laws of any other nation.
When you enter the Website, information is gathered from your Internet browser. This information may include your IP address and log files (which allows us to determine the identity of your Internet Service Provider), your operating system and the type of browser software that you are using to access the Website. All information obtained from your browser is anonymous, and no personal information is ever transmitted to us in this manner. The Website may use a standard technology called a “cookie,” or web beacons, or other similar technology to collect information about how you use the Website. Cookies reside on your computer and help the Website recognize your computer’s browser as a previous visitor. On occasion, the Website may also set a “session cookie” which helps us administer the Website. The session cookie expires when you close your browser and does not retain any information about you after it expires. We may collect information about your computer or mobile phone, including your IP address, operating system, and browser type, for system administration and in order to create reports. We may also collect demographic information such as location, language, gender, age, and interests in order to create reports, leading to website content improvements. This is statistical data about our users’ browsing actions and patterns, and does not identify any individual. GLIDE uses Google Analytics in order to better understand how users interact with the Website. Google Analytics uses first-party cookies to track visitor interactions, as in our case, where they are used to collect information about how visitors use the Website. We then use the information provided by Google Analytics to compile reports and to make changes to the Website. Cookies contain information that is transferred to your computer’s hard drive. These cookies are used to store information, such as the time that the current visit occurred, whether the visitor has been to the site before and what site referred the visitor to the web page. Google Analytics collects information anonymously. It reports website trends without identifying individual visitors. In order to make a donation on the Website, you must first complete a donation form, which will ask you to give us personally identifiable information (such as name, email address, mailing address, and telephone number) and financial information (such as account or credit card numbers). We will use your personally identifiable information to send you donation and tax receipts. We will use your personally identifiable information to send you announcements and notifications that may be of interest to you. By giving the Website your credit card and related personal information, you are authorizing us to give that information to a credit card company to complete your donation or recurring pledge.
In order to sign up as a volunteer on the Website, you must first create a user name and password and provide GLIDE with personally identifiable information (such as your name, email address, age, and phone number). We will use such information to complete the set up of your account in order for you to volunteer at GLIDE. We may also use this personally identifiable information to send you announcements and notifications that may be of interest to you.
The Website may offer merchandise and/or services, which may be offered by us or by an entity that operates a store under contract with us. If the Website offers shopping or other commercial services, you will use a customer order form to purchase products and/or request information and services. The order form will ask you to give us personally identifiable information (such as name, email address, mailing address, and telephone number), financial information (such as account or credit card numbers), and demographic information (such as zip code or age). We will use your mailing address to fulfill orders of merchandise as well as to send you announcements and notifications that may be of interest to you. We will use the financial information that you provide to bill you for products and services. By giving the Website your credit card and related personal information, you are authorizing us to give that information to the merchant (if the merchant is a separate entity) and credit card company in order to confirm and fulfill your order. We may use your email address or mobile telephone number’s messaging capability to send you special announcements or notifications of events or services that may be of interest to you and to verify and authorize the use of your credit card for services for which you have registered or requested.
The Website may allow users to post, submit, publish, display or transmit to other users or other persons content or materials (collectively, “User Contributions”) on or through the Website. We may disclose personally identifiable information that we collect or you provide to subsidiaries or affiliates of GLIDE or contractors, service providers, and other third parties who support GLIDE. GLIDE only provides this information to third parties to facilitate work done on behalf of GLIDE. In addition, personally identifiable information may be disclosed to comply with any court order, law, or legal process, including to respond to any government or regulatory request, or to enforce or apply the Terms of Use.
GLIDE employs reasonable security measures, consistent with standard industry practice, for information collected through the Website. However, you should exercise discretion with respect to the submission of any personal or financial information to the Website. Transmitting information via the Internet is never completely secure and, therefore, any information submitted may be intercepted, collected, used, or disclosed by others. We cannot, and do not, guarantee that information supplied by users will not be accessed on our servers, or intercepted, collected, used, or disclosed by others while being transmitted to or from the Website over the Internet.
The Website may contain links to other websites, which may or may not be owned or operated by GLIDE. All links to websites not part of GLIDE are made without any representations or warranties relating to the integrity, security, or legitimacy of such websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of websites that are not owned and operated by GLIDE, including such sites’ use of any information (such as IP number, browser type, or operating system) collected when visitors to the Website click through links to those sites. This Privacy Policy cannot and does not apply to external websites and, once you leave the Website, you are subject to those websites’ privacy policies and procedures. We strongly encourage you to become familiar with the terms of use and privacy policies of external websites before providing personally identifiable information. All matters relating to the Website and this Privacy Policy and any dispute or claim arising therefrom or related thereto (in each, including non-contractual disputes or claims) shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California without giving effect to any choice or conflict of law provision or rule (whether of the State of California or other jurisdiction). Any legal suit, action or proceeding arising out of, or related to, this Privacy Policy or the Website shall be instituted exclusively in the federal courts of the United States or the courts of the State of California, in each case located in the County of San Francisco although we retain the right to bring any suit, action or proceeding against you for breach of this Privacy Policy in your country of residence or any other relevant country. You waive any and all objections to the exercise of jurisdiction over you by such courts and to venue in such courts. At GLIDE’s sole discretion, we may require you to submit any disputes arising from this Privacy Policy or use of the Website, including disputes arising from or concerning their interpretation, violation, invalidity, non-performance, or termination, to final and binding arbitration under the Rules of Arbitration of the American Arbitration Association applying California law. No waiver of by GLIDE of any term or condition set forth in this Privacy Policy shall be deemed a further or continuing waiver of such term or condition or a waiver of any other term or condition, and any failure of GLIDE to assert a right or provision under this Privacy Policy shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision. Any heading, caption, or section title contained in this Privacy Policy is inserted only as a matter of convenience and in no way defines or explains any section or provision hereof. If any provision of this Privacy Policy is held by a court or other tribunal of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, illegal or unenforceable for any reason, such provision shall be eliminated or limited to the minimum extent such that the remaining provisions of this Privacy Policy will continue in full force and effect. The Terms of Use and Privacy Policy constitute the sole and entire agreement between you and GLIDE with respect to the Website and supersede all prior and contemporaneous understandings, agreements, representations and warranties, both written and oral, with respect to the Website.
